Walking is man’s best medicine. It is a simple form of physical activity that most of us are doing every day and could bring us a lot of health benefits. Adults are recommended to gradually increase their daily step goal to 10,000 based on individual’s own physical conditions, abilities, pace and circumstances. Even if the goal cannot be reached yet, any amount of walking is better than none.
The Department of Health and the Occupational Safety and Health Council will organise a walking challenge under the “10,000 Steps a Day” campaign in November 2022 to raise awareness on the health benefits of walking. Interested organisations and individuals can register through the event’s official website. Participants achieveing an average of 8,000 steps will receive exclusive rewards for reaching the target.
